Skin ageing

Sagging eyelids

Heavier eyelids, fine lines and crow's feet around the eyes.

What is it?

The skin around the eyes is the thinnest skin on the face, about half a millimetre. There is little supporting tissue underneath and it moves with every blink. That is why it often sags first: the upper eyelid becomes heavier, fine lines appear under the eye and crow's feet stay visible.

With mild to moderate sagging, surgery is not always necessary. With Tixel or Morpheus8 we can make the skin around the eyes firmer, without cutting and without scars.

Tixel or Morpheus8?

If it is mainly about lines, crow's feet and the quality of the skin, we are more likely to choose Tixel. It works with short pulses of heat and needs no anaesthesia. If the eyelid is becoming heavier and hanging lower, we are more likely to choose Morpheus8. It delivers the heat with fine needles under the skin, where the supporting tissue is.

If you also want to do something about dark circles or thin, dry skin under the eyes, we can add exosomes or polynucleotides. More on the eyelid treatment page.

Where the limit lies

If the skin of the upper eyelid rests on the lashes or limits your vision, a treatment without surgery is not enough. Eyelid surgery by a plastic surgeon is then the better choice. Bags under the eyes caused by fat do not disappear with Tixel or Morpheus8 either. If we see during the intake that a surgeon can do more for you, we tell you honestly.

After the treatment

For the first few days, do not use eye make-up or products with acids or retinol around the eyes. Wear sunglasses outdoors and use a sunscreen suitable for the eye area. You may want to sleep with an extra pillow the first night, so the swelling stays down. Also read an eyelid treatment without surgery.

How we approach it

Every treatment plan starts with a free 30-minute intake. Your skin therapist examines your skin and discusses what you would like to achieve. We then draw up a treatment plan together. Sometimes one treatment is enough, sometimes we combine two. You also receive advice on caring for your skin at home.

Frequently asked questions

How many treatments are needed?

With Tixel 4 to 6, a month apart. With Morpheus8, 2 to 3 treatments 4 to 6 weeks apart give the best result.

When will I see results?

The result grows in the months after the treatment, because the skin makes new collagen. After Tixel you see the best effect 4 to 6 months after the last treatment, after Morpheus8 after 3 to 6 months.

How long will I be visibly red or swollen?

After Tixel about five days; after 48 hours you may cover it with make-up. After Morpheus8 the redness usually fades within a day and the skin has recovered after 1 to 2 days.

Does it hurt?

Tixel needs no anaesthesia; you feel short pulses of heat. With Morpheus8 we apply a numbing cream beforehand.

Is a treatment without surgery enough for me?

With mild to moderate sagging it often is. If the eyelid rests on the lashes or limits your vision, it is not. During the intake we look at this honestly.

Is the treatment covered by insurance?

No. An eyelid treatment without surgery is cosmetic and is not covered.

How much does it cost?

Tixel for the upper or lower eyelids costs € 99, upper and lower together € 150. An eye treatment with Morpheus8 costs € 350. All prices are on the prices page.

Every result is different. If a photo credits a source, it comes from another clinic that works with the same device. During the intake we discuss what you can expect.
