About the treatment
Peels at Huidzorg Amstelland
We work with peels from Dermaceutic and Renophase, two French brands for professional use. Together they cover every strength: from very light peels after which you can carry on straight away, to very deep peels with TCA or phenol.
Which peel suits you depends on your skin, your concern and how much recovery time you can plan for. We discuss this in the free intake. During a course, we adjust the peel at each treatment to how your skin responds.
What a peel does
A chemical peel loosens the bonds between the top skin cells. The skin then sheds faster, and the production of new skin cells and collagen is stimulated. The deeper the peel, the stronger the effect and the longer the recovery time.
- A peel for every strength, from very light to very deep
- Suitable for all skin types, including olive and dark skin; we adjust the strength accordingly
- Easy to combine with other treatments, such as LED therapy or microneedling
Very light and light peels
Light peels work on the top layer of the skin. You see little to nothing after the treatment: the skin barely peels and you can go straight back to work. They are suitable for getting the skin used to peels, and as an addition to other treatments.
Dermaceutic has its own light peel for different skin concerns. Milk Peel (glycolic, salicylic and lactic acid) is intended for mild acne, keratosis pilaris and superficial pigmentation. Crystal Peel is for melasma, sun spots, pigmentation after inflammation and mild acne. Salic Peel is made for oily, blemish-prone skin, Retinic Peel with a vitamin A derivative for mature skin and Tranex Peel for pigment spots and an uneven complexion.
Renophase treatments are mild and focus on restoring the skin. We use them for acne, melasma, rosacea and skin that is out of balance.
Medium-depth peels with TCA
For a stronger effect we use Cosmo Peel by Dermaceutic. This peel contains trichloroacetic acid (TCA) in strengths from 12 to 20 percent. With a lower strength we treat sun spots, superficial pigmentation and keratosis pilaris. We also use a higher strength for age spots and sun-aged skin.
After a TCA peel the skin is red for a few days and peels. Sun protection is extra important during this period.
Phenol peel
Huidzorg Amstelland also works with a phenol peel: Cosmo Peel Forte by Dermaceutic. This peel combines phenol with TCA and glycolic acid and works deeper than a TCA peel alone. Dermaceutic developed it for acne scars, age spots and actinic keratosis (rough, scaly patches caused by sun damage). According to Dermaceutic, one treatment often gives a clear result.
Because the peel works deeply, the skin is red for a few days after the treatment and peels. So plan the treatment at a time that suits you. In the intake we check whether your skin is suitable for a phenol peel and how we prepare the skin for it.
