Scar therapy
A scar can pull, itch or get in the way. With massage, Tixel, microneedling and silicone, we make it more supple and less visible.
About the treatment
What is a scar?
A scar is an area of firm connective tissue that forms when a wound heals. The tissue contains more fibres and fewer cells, vessels and fluid, which creates an area of skin that differs from the rest.
There are different types of scars. Depending on the type of scar, how long it has been there and how it developed, we draw up a personal treatment plan.
Scar massage and Tixel
Scar massage is initially manual, done by hand. In addition, Tixel can be used to make the scar tissue more supple, flatter and more even.
Microneedling
Microneedling improves the relief of scar tissue by stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. The skin becomes smoother, more elastic, finer in texture and more even in colour. The surrounding skin becomes more flexible, which reduces adhesion and hardening and lessens any restriction of movement.
Silicone plasters and lymph taping
For thickened (hypertrophic) scars we often use silicone plasters. They help the scar tissue mature faster, improve hydration and flatten the tissue. Lymph taping is an additional method: the elastic tape gently stretches the skin, which softens the tissue.
