About the practice

We take care of your skin

A small skin therapy practice in the old village church in Amstelveen, since 2014. With four permanent skin therapists, all of whom speak English.

Our history

Our story

Skin therapist Maaike van Weezenbeek started Huidzorg Amstelland in 2014. She wanted a practice where people’s skin complaints are taken seriously and where the therapist takes the time to find out what is going on.

The practice started with medical skin therapy, such as acne and scar treatments and aftercare following cancer. In the years that followed, treatments for pigmentation, broken capillaries and skin rejuvenation were added. Today you can come to us with almost any skin question.

Despite that growth, the practice has remained small, and that is a deliberate choice. You always see the same faces, and we have time to answer your questions.

How we work

Our approach

Every treatment starts with an intake. We look at your skin and ask about your lifestyle, diet, medication and wishes. Based on this, we draw up a treatment plan. If we think you would be better helped elsewhere, we tell you honestly and refer you to your GP or a specialist.

Maaike van Weezenbeek

Maaike van Weezenbeek

Owner & Skin therapist

Maaike knew from a young age that she wanted to make a difference for others. That led her to skin therapy and, in 2014, to founding Huidzorg Amstelland. What she enjoys most? Patients who are finally free of their complaints after a treatment.

Annelies Herikhuisen

Annelies Herikhuisen

Skin therapist

Annelies has been treating skin complaints for more than ten years. Alongside her work at the practice, she is active for the Kwaliteitsregister Paramedici and runs her own foundation.

Glyonne van Vliet

Glyonne van Vliet

Skin therapist & Orthomolecular therapist

Besides being a skin therapist, Glyonne is also an orthomolecular therapist. She looks beyond the skin itself and works with her patients to find the cause of a complaint, for example in diet or lifestyle.

Noortje van Schie

Noortje van Schie

Skin therapist

Noortje has been a skin therapist since 2012. In her work she often notices that attention to the outside also touches something on the inside. That is why she takes the time for a proper conversation, alongside the treatment itself.

I came here after my own search and on the advice of Ziekenhuis Amstelland (oncology) for a good oedema therapist. […] I always feel heard and supported in a professional way in my process.

What we stand for

Our mission & vision

Mission

We want to help people with their skin, and that starts with listening. Someone with acne has different questions from someone who has just finished treatment for breast cancer. That is why we tailor every treatment to the person. Because the practice is small, you always know who you will see.

Vision

Good skin care requires expertise that stays up to date. Our therapists are listed in the Kwaliteitsregister Paramedici and are members of the NVH. They take refresher and further training every year, so we work according to the latest insights and with safe equipment.

Specialisation

Oncology skin care & mammacare

A large part of our work is skin care during and after cancer treatment, especially breast cancer. Chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery make the skin vulnerable, and that calls for a therapist who knows what to look out for.

Our therapists are trained in this and work with the hospitals in the region, such as Ziekenhuis Amstelland, the AMC and the AVL (Netherlands Cancer Institute).

Some of our treatments, such as acne therapy, scar therapy and peels used for a medical reason, qualify for cover under supplementary insurance. Whether a treatment is covered depends on your insurer and your insurance package.

You can come to us without a referral, but some insurers do ask for one. During the intake we work out together what is covered for you, so you know where you stand beforehand.
