Laser therapy
In our practice we work with different types of lasers and IPL.
We have the most modern equipment to treat various skin problems, such as excessive hair growth, vascular problems, pigment spots, acne, scars and skin aging. Would you like to know more about the treatments? Then look at our treatment offer at the bottom of this page.

Acne
There are several factors that influence the development of acne. One of those factors is that the sebum cannot drain properly because the pore in the skin is clogged. The cause of this blockage is an accumulation of old skin cells. The combination treatment of acne peeling or laser treatment is effective for acne. Acne (laser therapy)
Introduction
There are several factors that influence the development of acne. One of those factors is that the sebum cannot drain properly because the pore in the skin is clogged. The cause of this blockage is an accumulation of old skin cells. The combination treatment of acne peeling or laser treatment is effective for acne. This treatment can be done after the therapist's deep cleansing.
Treatment
Acne can be effectively treated with blue light. With this form of light therapy even new outbreaks can be prevented. The aim of the treatment with laser therapy is to kill the P-acnes bacteria. This is a bacteria that plays a major role in the development of acne. A additional effect of blue light is that it soothes the skin after treatment. To achieve a good result, several treatments are needed, which sometimes have to be performed weekly.
Result
After the laser treatment, the skin may be red. This can last for several hours and even until the next day. With skin that has not been treated before, the acne may first seem to worsen. This is only the case with the first treatments. It is important to take good care of the skin at home to prevent new blockages as much as possible.
Blood vessels
In our practice we work with the KTP laser and with IPL. The KTP laser emits a highly concentrated beam of light into the blood vessel. The red pigment of the blood (hemoglobin) absorbs this beam of light. The light is converted into heat. This heat destroys the blood vessel wall, so that it visibly disappears. The treatment is based on the absorption of laser light in the pigment of the blood. Read more
Blood vessels (laser therapy)
Introduction
In our practice we work with the KTP laser and with IPL. The KTP laser emits a highly concentrated beam of light into the blood vessel. The red pigment of the blood (hemoglobin) absorbs this beam of light. The light is converted into heat. This heat destroys the blood vessel wall, so that it visibly disappears. The treatment is based on the absorption of laser light in the pigment of the blood. The treatment is therefore most suitable for light skin. The lighter the skin color, the more effective the treatment. Are the vessels less visible, but is there mainly a diffuse redness? We can treat this well with the help of IPL. Sometimes a combination of these two treatment methods is also possible.
Most people who have undergone treatment compare this to a slight stinging sensation, followed by a warm sensation that lasts for several minutes. After the treatment, some redness may occur, which quickly disappears. Within a week, very small scabs will appear on the vessels that have been treated, which will disappear over time.
The laser gives powerful light pulses, so that a large area of the skin can be treated quickly. A facial treatment takes 5 to 15 minutes, a treatment of the legs takes 15 to 20 minutes. The veins disappear completely and do not come back. However, new veins may appear over time. These can be removed in the same way. Small burst vessels in the face usually require 2 to 3 treatments. More vascular abnormalities generally require 3 to 5 treatments. The repeat treatments take place every 4 weeks on average.
Pre- and aftercare
The laser light is completely safe, making special precautions unnecessary. During the treatment, special glasses are worn to protect the eyes. However, if your skin turns brown due to an increase in pigment during sunbathing, it is advisable to avoid this as much as possible before or between treatments. We also advise you not to go out in the sun or under a tanning bed for two weeks before the treatment and for up to four weeks after the treatment. In addition, it is advisable to use good sun protection (sunblock) during this period.

Hair removal (laser therapy)
Introduction
Unwanted hair growth in daily life is a big problem for many people. An attempt is made to prevent hair growth by shaving, plucking, waxing or treatment with hormone preparations. With modern laser and light technologies it is now possible to reduce hair growth, without the often painful side effects that traditional hair removal methods entail.
Treatment
In the treated areas, unwanted hair growth is reduced by up to 95%. Any remaining hairs may be thinner and lighter in color. All body parts such as the face, upper lip, legs, bikini line, arms and back can be treated with laser light. In most cases, a tingling sensation and warmth is noticed during the treatment. After the end of the treatment, a light red rash (erythema) may appear, which disappears quickly.
The hair growth cycle consists of different phases: the growth phase, the regressive phase and the resting phase. For optimal results, your hair should be treated with laser light during the growth phase. The normal duration of a laser treatment is six to eight treatment sessions with an interval of 5 to 6 weeks. To maintain the result, we recommend that you come by once a year to repeat the laser treatment.
Pre- and aftercare
From two weeks before the start of the treatment, tweezing, plucking or other hair removal treatments are not recommended. Furthermore, it is not recommended to sunbathe or to do a tanning bed treatment from four weeks before the treatment. We also recommend avoiding the sun as much as possible for 6 weeks after the treatment.
Excessive facial hair with women is reimbursed from the supplementary insurance. Ask your insurer how much you are entitled to reimburse for skin therapy each year. We have concluded an agreement with every health insurer for the new year.

Pigment
When treating pigmented spots, the light beam penetrates the skin and is absorbed by the pigment in the pigmented spot. This absorption destroys the cell and pulverizes the pigment. The body then cleans this up on its own. Treatable pigment spots are age spots or pigment spots on, for example, the face, décolleté, hands and arms. Read more

Treatment
In practice we work with the KTP laser and with IPL. During an intake interview, we will discuss which form of treatment is applicable is most suitable for you. Sometimes both methods can be used for an optimal treatment result.
During the treatment, you and the skin therapist will wear glasses to protect your eyes. A cold gel is applied to the skin to be treated. A treatment takes about 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area which is treated. You can generally resume your daily activities immediately after the treatment.
Usually the skin is somewhat red and sensitive after the treatment, similar to the feeling of sunburnt skin. There may also be a slight swelling. This disappears after a few hours to a day. You can apply cold compresses to the treated area if necessary.
The pigment turns dark / gray and feels grainy after treatment. This disappears within a few days to a week. In rare cases, a scab may form locally. Do not scratch the scabs, but let them heal slowly.
The flashes of light feel like a rubber band tapping against the skin. The treatment can be somewhat painful, depending on the area to be treated. But most patients tolerate the treatment well. An anesthetic is not necessary.
In general, two to three treatments are required to achieve the desired result. Sometimes one or two treatments are enough. There are always three or four weeks between the treatments.
Pre- and aftercare
Try to avoid sunlight as much as possible, do not use a sunbed and do not use self-tanning cream. If you do come out in the sun, use a sunscreen with a sun protection factor of 30 or higher. Before treatment, the area to be treated must be clean. So do not use make-up, creams, perfume or aftershave on the day of the treatment.
The treatment of pigment disorders is sometimes reimbursed from the supplementary insurance. Ask your insurer how much you are entitled to reimburse for skin therapy each year. We have an agreement with every health insurer.
